Modern-Cabra-East-Dublin

History

Historically, Cabra was mostly populated by cows and other farm animals. The massive fields were used for vegetables and grazing thousands of cattle. It was only in 1930’s when massive human settlement started. Dublin City Corporation began the building of residential houses and this enticed many families to move in the area. Today, more people are living in Cabra making it one of the well-loved suburbs in Dublin. It is divided into Cabra East, the slightly older area and the Cabra West which is the newer part. While development has entered, Cabra maintains an unusual amount of green spaces for the enjoyment of nature loving families.

Dublin’s four seats for the MEP has been elected. The three days of counting was exciting for the different parties. Fianna Fail’s Barry Andrews secured the “cold-storage” fourth seat which can only be occupied after the Brexit while Independent Clare Daly won the third seat. Brexit is the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union which was originally scheduled on March 29, 2019 but later moved to October 31, 2019. Until then, Barry Andrews will not assume office. Andrews served as Minster of State for Children from 2008-2011. He has a long connection with the Fianna Fail and described as Fianna Fail royalty because of his family connection with the political party.
